Summer Jam West commits to cultivating the cultural fabric of the Hilltop through our annual festival and the installation of permanent, public art in the neighborhoods of the West Side.

We seriously underestimated the response our 2021 muralist call would elicit. We’ve been fortunate in the past to connect with artists who believed in public art for the Hilltop, and wanted to be a part of it.

This year, however, folks took it to a whole new level. We can’t believe the number and quality of concepts we received. A MASSIVE thank you goes to the artists who applied, and to everyone who helped spread the word.

Summer Jam West Festival

Summer Jam West is a grassroots, free arts and music festival held annually in Westgate Park. We commit to bringing music and permanent, public art to the Hilltop.

At our festival, you’ll find local bands, local food trucks, local art and crafts, professional chalk artists, an art car corral, and a free Kids Art Zone.

Public Art on the Hilltop

It started in 2015 with our first commissioned piece of public art, a 15-foot sculpture depicting the life stages of a monarch butterfly, to coincide with that year’s festival theme, “On the Wings of Change”. Since then, we’ve commissioned a major public art installation annually on the Hilltop, along with several smaller public art pieces, and the painting of our art car, The Grape Escape.
